Burnt Alive: The Staines and the God they loved (Book)
It was on January 23, 1999 that the Australian missionary, Graham
Staines and his two sons, were ambushed by a frenzied mob with flaming
torches and burnt alive in Manoharpur, Orissa, India.
This book is a tribute to Graham Staines. It takes a look into the life
and work of this man of God, among the socially outcast lepers, reaching
out to them with love and compassion; and the inspiring story of the
105-year-old Mayurbhanj leprosy mission - a symbol of supreme sacrifice.
Furthermore, it delves deep into the Christian faith; the freedom of
conscience, and the Christian attitude to persecution, discussing these
threadbare, objectively and impartially. It tugs at your conscience with
probing questions, and helps you to exercise it judiciously and
fearlessly.
